The Holiness of God

God is holy, pure and perfect. The closer we draw near to God the more we encounter His holiness. I have encountered the holiness of God and in these encounters I have felt the greatest sense of awe, fear, respect, wonder, honor and stillness of God. In those moments I am aware of the fact that no human or living thing is as holy, powerful, magnificent and amazing as God. Because God is holy the more we draw near to Him we are able to witness His holiness. Just like it says in Isaiah‬ ‭6:1-3, the seraphim in the throne of God in Heaven, “they were calling out to each other, Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Heaven’s Armies! The whole earth is filled with his glory!” The seraphim are in the throne of God in Heaven looking upon the face of God and their response is to cry out holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Heaven’s armies. They are able to witness the holiness of God.

It also tells us in Revelation 4:8-11 that, “Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under its wings. Day and night they never stop saying: ‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty,’ who was, and is, and is to come.’ Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say: ‘You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.’” Every day and every night the four living creatures look upon the face of God in the throne room of God in Heaven and they are overwhelmed by His holiness and they never stop saying holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty and the twenty-four elders fall down before the Lord in worship and honor of God.

Even as I was writing this and looking up scriptures about the holiness of God, the Lord revealed to me the reason the Holy Spirit is named that is because He is not only the Spirit of God, but He is holy. The Spirit of God is holy just as God is holy and that is why His name is Holy Spirit. God reveals His holiness to us even when we encounter His Holy Spirit.
I felt a drawing from the Lord to study about His holiness and share what the Bible says about the holiness of God. I believe God wants to give us a revelation and understanding of His holiness. He wants us to have an encounter with His holiness which takes place through encountering God Himself. God is inviting you into the holy of holies, into His Presence, into the throne room of God and to encounter Him in a deeper way. My prayer for every person reading this is that you would encounter the holiness of God, that you would draw near to God and encounter all of who He is. My prayer is that you would enter into the holy of holies in the Presence of God through communion with Father God, Jesus the Son and His Holy Spirit.

Below are Scriptures on Holiness:

“The Lord said to Moses: “Tell your brother Aaron that he shall not enter at any time into the holy place inside the veil, before the mercy seat which is on the ark, or he will die; for I will appear in the cloud over the mercy seat. But in this way Aaron shall come into the Holy Place: with a bull from the herd for a sin offering and a ram for a burnt offering.” Leviticus 16:2

“Above this surface was something that looked like a throne made of blue lapis lazuli. And on this throne high above was a figure whoseappearance resembled a man. From what appeared to be his waist up, he looked like gleaming amber, flickering like a fire. And from his waist down, he looked like a burning flame, shining with splendor. All around him was a glowing halo, like a rainbow shining in the clouds on a rainy day. This is what the glory of the Lord looked like to me. When I saw it, I fell face down on the ground, and I heard someone’s voice speaking to me.” Ezekiel‬ ‭1:26-28‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“A tabernacle was set up. In its first room were the lampstand and the table with its consecrated bread; this was called the Holy Place. Behind the second curtain was a room called the Most Holy Place, which had the golden altar of incense and the gold-covered ark of the covenant. This ark contained the gold jar of manna, Aaron’s staff that had budded, and the stone tablets of the covenant. Above the ark were the cherubim of the Glory, overshadowing the atonement cover. But we cannot discuss these things in detail now. When everything had been arranged like this, the priests entered regularly into the outer room to carry on their ministry. But only the high priest entered the inner room, and that only once a year, and never without blood, which he offered for himself and for the sins the people had committed in ignorance. The Holy Spirit was showing by this that the way into the Most Holy Place had not yet been disclosed as long as the first tabernacle was still functioning. This is an illustration for the present time, indicating that the gifts and sacrifices being offered were not able to clear the conscience of the worshiper. They are only a matter of food and drink and various ceremonial washings—external regulations applying until the time of the new order.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭9:2-10‬ NIV

“But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things to come, He entered through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this creation; and not through the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, He entered the holy place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.” Hebrews 9:11-12

“So Christ has now become the High Priest over all the good things that have come. He has entered that greater, more perfect Tabernacle in heaven, which was not made by human hands and is not part of this created world. With his own blood—not the blood of goats and calves—he entered the Most Holy Place once for all time and secured our redemption forever. Under the old system, the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer could cleanse people’s bodies from ceremonial impurity. Just think how much more the blood of Christ will purify our consciences from sinful deeds so that we can worship the living God. For by the power of the eternal Spirit, Christ offered himself to God as a perfect sacrifice for our sins. That is why he is the one who mediates a new covenant between God and people, so that all who are called can receive the eternal inheritance God has promised them. For Christ died to set them free from the penalty of the sins they had committed under that first covenant. “In fact, according to the law of Moses, nearly everything was purified with blood. For without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness. That is why the Tabernacle and everything in it, which were copies of things in heaven, had to be purified by the blood of animals. But the real things in heaven had to be purified with far better sacrifices than the blood of animals. For Christ did not enter into a holy place made with human hands, which was only a copy of the true one in heaven. He entered into heaven itself to appear now before God on our behalf. And he did not enter heaven to offer himself again and again, like the high priest here on earth who enters the Most Holy Place year after year with the blood of an animal. If that had been necessary, Christ would have had to die again and again, ever since the world began. But now, once for all time, he has appeared at the end of the age to remove sin by his own death as a sacrifice. And just as each person is destined to die once and after that comes judgment, so also Christ was offered once for all time as a sacrifice to take away the sins of many people. He will come again, not to deal with our sins, but to bring salvation to all who are eagerly waiting for him.” Hebrews‬ ‭9:11-15, 22-28‬ ‭NLT‬‬
“Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, His flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.” Hebrews 10:19-22
“But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.” And remember that the heavenly Father to whom you pray has no favorites. He will judge or reward you according to what you do. So you must live in reverent fear of him during your time here as “temporary residents.” For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God. God chose him as your ransom long before the world began, but now in these last days he has been revealed for your sake.” 1 Peter‬ ‭1:15-20‬ ‭NLT‬‬

It must never be used to anoint anyone else, and you must never make any blend like it for yourselves. It is holy, and you must treat it as holy.”odus‬ ‭30:29-32‬ ‭NLT‬‬
