In this article I write about the second coming, return of Jesus Christ, the Son of God to the earth. Many people are unsure what the Bible says about the second return/coming of Jesus Christ to the earth and I wanted to share all the different scriptures that discuss Jesus’ return. It will be a glorious, wonderful day for all those who believe and love Jesus when we get to see Him face-to-face and when Heaven comes to earth.

Daniel 7:9-14 9 “As I looked,“thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took his seat. His clothing was as white as snow; the hair of his head was white like wool. His throne was flaming with fire, and its wheels were all ablaze.10 A river of fire was flowing, coming out from before him. Thousands upon thousands attended him; ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him. The court was seated, and the books were opened. 11 “Then I continued to watch because of the boastful words the horn was speaking. I kept looking until the beast was slain and its body destroyed and thrown into the blazing fire. 13 “In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. 14 He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.

In this passage of scripture in Daniel 7 when he says Ancient of Days, Daniel is referring to God the Father. Father God’s hair is white like snow and that speaks of His eternal wisdom. When it says that thousands upon thousands attend and stand before Father God, that speaks of the angels and people who have died and now reside in Heaven. There is a Heavenly court where the Father and Jesus have supreme authority, in Isaiah & John it tells us that Jesus is the eternal judge and that the government of God rests on Jesus’ shoulder. The books can speak of the book of life and other books.

Below are the two scriptures that talk about Jesus being the eternal judge.

Isaiah 9:6-76 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.

John 5:22-23 22 Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, 23 that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him.

Below are more scriptures about the return of Jesus.

Isaiah 19:1 19 A prophecy against Egypt: See, the Lord rides on a swift cloud and is coming to Egypt. The idols of Egypt tremble before him, and the hearts of the Egyptians melt with fear.

Isaiah 25:6-9 The Marriage Supper of the Lamb Jesus

6 On this mountain the Lord Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine—the best of meats and the finest of wines. 7 On this mountain he will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations; 8 he will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears from all faces; he will remove his people’s disgrace from all the earth. The Lord has spoken. 9 In that day they will say,“Surely this is our God;we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the Lord, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.”

In this passage of Isaiah he talks about the Marriage Supper of the Lamb, which is when Jesus returns to the earth and will prepare a feast of the richest food, finest meats and finest wines for His people and we will feast with King Jesus!

1 Corinthians 15:50-5750 I declare to you, brothers and sisters, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. 51 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— 52 in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53 For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. 54 When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”55 “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?”56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

This passage in 1 Corinthians is talking about what will take place at the second coming/return of Jesus Christ the Son of God to the earth, for those alive on the earth who have already acknowledged/believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God and their Savior they will be transformed at the moment of Jesus’ return. In this passage it tells us that Jesus Christ will return at the sound of the last/seventh trumpet, which references Revelation 10:6-7 where it says, “There will be no more delay! 7 But in the days when the seventh angel is about to sound his trumpet, the mystery of God will be accomplished, just as he announced to his servants the prophets.”

Revelation 11:15-17 also references the last/seventh trumpet, return of Jesus, it says, “The seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, which said: “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Messiah, and he will reign for ever and ever.” 16 And the twenty-four elders, who were seated on their thrones before God, fell on their faces and worshiped God, 17 saying: “We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty, the One who is and who was, because you have taken your great power and have begun to reign.

Going back to the passage in Corinthians, once the last trumpet sounds and Jesus comes to earth then the scripture in Corinthians tells us that in a flash, a twinkling of an eye, the bodies of those on the earth who have believed/received Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior before Jesus returns, their bodies will be transformed as quickly as it takes for a person to blink. This scripture tells us that their bodies will go from being mortal to becoming immortal, their bodies will go from being perishable to imperishable, meaning they will not be able to die-but live forever/eternal life.

1 Thessalonians 4:15-18  15 According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.

In this passage of 1 Thessalonians it tells us again that at the sound of the trumpet Jesus will return to earth and the dead will be raised and those who are alive on the earth who have accepted Jesus Christ as their God/Savior, they will be caught up in the clouds to meet King Jesus in the sky and we will be with Jesus forever.

2 Thessalonians 1:7-10This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels. 8 He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. 9 They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might on the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people and to be marveled at among all those who have believed. 10

In this passage of 1 Thessalonians it affirms that when Jesus returns He is coming with fire and the host/angels of heaven and Jesus will punish those who do not know God and those who did not obey the gospel of Jesus. It tells us that those who do not know God will be punished with eternal destruction, which speaks of hell. (Refer to my previous blog post on hell to learn more about what the Bible tells us about hell and who goes there and what hell is).

2 Thessalonians 2:1-171 Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brothers and sisters, 2 not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by the teaching allegedly from us—whether by a prophecy or by word of mouth or by letter—asserting that the day of the Lord has already come. 3 Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. 4 He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.

5 Don’t you remember that when I was with you I used to tell you these things? 6 And now you know what is holding him back, so that he may be revealed at the proper time. 7 For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. 8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming. 9 The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, 10 and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 11 For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie 12 and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.

13 But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as firstfruits to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth. 14 He called you to this through our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 15 So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter. 16 May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, 17 encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.

This passage of 2 Thessalonians gives us a time indicator for the return of Jesus. When it talks about the man of lawlessness that speaks of the anti-christ. When it says the man of lawlessness will set himself in the temple and exalt himself as God that speaks of a literal event that will take place on the earth before the return of Jesus, the anti-christ will go into God’s temple in Jerusalem and will call himself God before the return of Jesus. There are many scriptures in the Bible that talk about the anti-christ and what he will do on the earth, I may create a separate blog on the anti-christ. Here are the different scriptures that talk about the anti-christ: Daniel 7; Dan. 8:10-27; 9:24-27; 11:31-45; Matthew 24:9-12, 24; 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12; Rev. 13; Rev. 17:3-18.

Matthew 24:3-8 3 As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. “Tell us,” they said, “when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?” 4 Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many. 6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of birth pains.

In this passage of Matthew Jesus tells us what signs to be aware of before His returning and the end of the age/world. One example is false messiah’s, people claiming to be Jesus and who are not. Also, there will be wars, famines, earthquakes and this will be what Jesus refers to as the beginning of the end/birth pains.

Matthew 24:9-13 9 “Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. 10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13 but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.

In these verses Jesus tells us that Christians will be persecuted and martyred, Christians will walk away from God and false prophets will deceive people through false teachings of false truths. The good thing is that whoever stands firm to the end will be saved, meaning they will be with Jesus forever-saved by Jesus Christ our Savior!

Matthew 24:14-2214 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. 15 “So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination that causes desolation,’ spoken of through the prophet Daniel—let the reader understand— 16 then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 Let no one on the housetop go down to take anything out of the house. 18 Let no one in the field go back to get their cloak. 19 How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! 20 Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath. 21 For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again. 22 “If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened.

In this passage Jesus goes on to say that the gospel of God will be preached to every nation before He returns and again Jesus tells us to watch out for when the anti-christ exalts himself as God in the temple, which is what Jesus refers to when He says the abomination that causes desolation will take place. Jesus also says in this passage that it will be a very difficult time on the earth before He returns, it will be the hardest times the people of the earth will ever experience from the creation of the world and never to be that difficult again.

Matthew 24:23-29 23 At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah!’ or, ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. 24 For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 25 See, I have told you ahead of time. 26 “So if anyone tells you, ‘There he is, out in the wilderness,’ do not go out; or, ‘Here he is, in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. 27 For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 28 Wherever there is a carcass, there the vultures will gather. 29 “Immediately after the distress of those days “‘the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’

In this passage Jesus warns us in advance that right before He returns there will be false messiahs, people claiming to be Jesus and who are not and false prophets, people claiming to be hearing from God but they do not and they will perform signs and wonders which are physical demonstrations and supernatural things that are not from God, but false signs/wonders produced through the power of satan to try to deceive Christians. Jesus also tells us that when He returns He will be visible to all of mankind by the human eye just as you see lighting strike. It says in the Bible that every eye will see Jesus when He returns. Then another clue Jesus gives us as a sign of when He will return to earth is the sun will go dark and the moon will be dark as well, so the sun and moon will not shine and the stars/comets will fall from the sky to the earth.

Matthew 24:30-31 30 “Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. 31 And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.

Jesus then tells us in this passage that after the previous things that were mentioned take place, then Jesus-the Son of Man will return to the earth and all people on the earth will mourn when they see Jesus coming on the clouds of heaven with power and glory. I believe the people who will mourn are those who did not believe in Him and once they see Him with their own eyes coming to earth the people who did not believe will be sadden because they will realize Jesus is real, but they did not believe in Him until they see Him.

Then Jesus says in the passage that He will send His angels to gather the elect, which are those who believed Jesus is Lord/God, died on the cross for their sins and received Him into their heart as their Savior. The angels will bring all those who believed in Jesus to meet Jesus in the sky in the clouds. This is where the rapture teaching comes from, the word is raptus, which means to be caught up, so all who believe in Jesus at the time of His returning will be caught up/raptured to meet Jesus in the sky when He comes.

Matthew 24:32-34 32 “Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. 33 Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door. 34 Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.

This passage just tells us what Jesus mentioned are the signs of His soon returning. When Jesus says this generation will not pass away until these things have happened that speaks of the future generation he was mentioning who would experience all the things He just spoke of such as the abomination of desolation, sun and moon will not shine, etc…

Matthew 24:35-39 35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. 36 “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 37 As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38 For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39 and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.

This passage tells us that only Father God knows the exact day and hour that Jesus will return to earth, no one not even Jesus or the angels know the exact day or hour of Jesus return. People on the earth will also be unaware just as it was before the flood during Noah’s days.

Matthew 24:40-43 40 Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left. 42 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into.

In these verses Jesus tells us what it will be like when He returns and the angels gather all the people who have believed in Jesus before His return and they will be caught up in the clouds and meet Jesus in the sky. That is what Jesus is describing when he says one will be taken and the other left. Then Jesus urges us to keep watch, meaning to be alert and keep our eyes fixed on Him before His return/second coming.

Matthew 24:44-51 44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. 45 “Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time? 46 It will be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns. 47 Truly I tell you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions. 48 But suppose that servant is wicked and says to himself, ‘My master is staying away a long time,’ 49 and he then begins to beat his fellow servants and to eat and drink with drunkards. 50 The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of. 51 He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

In this passage Jesus tells an analogy of a master and a servant and Jesus symbolically represents the master and people represent the servant because we are servants of Jesus Christ. Jesus warns us that He will return at a day and hour when we will not expect Him to come so we must do what is right while living on the earth before He returns. We must remain faithful to God/Jesus all of our lives and for those who are not faithful to Jesus before He returns, they will go to hell. That is what Jesus is speaking of when He talks about the place where there the servant/people will be sent to, the place where there will be weeping and gnashing of the teeth. We know this speaks of hell because all throughout the Bible when hell is mentioned it is referenced as the place where there will be weeping and gnashing of the teeth. To learn more about hell view my previous post about hell on this blog.

Matthew 25:31-4631 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. 34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ 37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ 40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

This passage references the time once Jesus has returned to the earth and He will judge all people according to what they have done. The sheep are symbolic of the people who have allowed Jesus to be their shepherd-to lead their lives, throughout the Bible Jesus is referred to as the Great Shepherd and the followers/believers/lovers of Jesus are the sheep.

The goats represent people who have not made Jesus their Shepherd, giving Jesus control to lead their lives instead the goats have gone their own way, not acknowledging God in their lives. The sheep will inherit the Kingdom of Heaven for eternity/forever with God the Father, Jesus, Holy Spirit, all the angels of Heaven and those who have gone before us. One of the things that qualifies us as a sheep, follower of Jesus is to care for those in need while living on the earth. To feed the poor and needy, clothe those who are in need, taking care of the sick, the stranger in need, and visiting those in prison are all things Jesus is looking for in believers, followers of Jesus in order to inherit the Kingdom of Heaven. By taking care of people in need, which Jesus refers to as the least of these, we are taking care of Jesus because Jesus cares for everyone who is in need.

Matthew 25:41-46

41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’ 44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’ 45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

This passage is a continuation of what Jesus talks about in the previous verses and He is referencing the goats, those who have not given their lives to Jesus and have not made Him their Shepherd. The goats wander while living their lives on the earth without regard to God. These people who are symbolically called the goats, will be sent to hell where there will be eternal fire and eternal punishment. Jesus says the goats did not take care of the poor and needy, the hungry or clothe those in need. This is a warning for those who live on the earth to take care of every person we can because we are caring for Jesus as we care for these. The sheep, the followers of Jesus who have taken care of the least of these will inherit eternal life.

Revelation 1:4-8 4Grace and peace to you from him who is, and who was, and who is to come, and from the seven spirits before his throne, 5 and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, 6 and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father—to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen. 7 “Look, he is coming with the clouds,”and “every eye will see him, even those who pierced him”; and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.”So shall it be! Amen. 8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”

In this passage of Revelation the writer John addresses us from the Father God and from Jesus. It says the One who is, meaning Father God who is alive and sits on His throne in Heaven and the One who was, meaning Father God existed before time began-before the creation of the earth God the Father existed and was and the One who is to come, meaning Father God and Jesus will both come to earth. I think when it mentions the One who is, who was and who is to come it speaks of both God the Father and Jesus.

John describes Jesus as the firstborn from the dead because Jesus Christ came to earth in the form of a child, born through a virgin name Mary and Jesus was crucified and died for all of mankind-granting forgiveness of all sins for those who believe in Him and ask for His forgiveness. Not only did Jesus die, but Jesus resurrected from the dead on the third day Jesus supernaturally came to life after being crucified on the earth and Jesus appeared to His disciples and people on the earth when He resurrected and that is why Jesus is referred to as the first born of the dead.

Jesus is also referenced as the ruler of the kings of the earth and in the Bible Jesus is referred to as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, meaning Jesus is the supreme King and supreme Lord over all those on the earth. Also, Jesus calls those who believe in Him, kings and priests to God, meaning we will serve Father God and Jesus just as kings and priests. Father God and Jesus have made those who believe in Him, royal sons and royal daughters.

It goes on to say in this passage of Revelation that Jesus will be coming/returning to earth on the clouds and every person of the earth will see Him return. When it says Alpha and Omega, Alpha means beginning and Omega means end. God the Father and Jesus have always been since before they created the world, at the beginning of all time and the Father & Jesus will always be until the very end, there will be no end to the rule, dominion and power of Father God & Jesus, they will never end and will never die.

Revelation 10:5-7  5Then the angel I had seen standing on the sea and on the land raised his right hand to heaven. 6 And he swore by him who lives for ever and ever, who created the heavens and all that is in them, the earth and all that is in it, and the sea and all that is in it, and said, “There will be no more delay! 7 But in the days when the seventh angel is about to sound his trumpet, the mystery of God will be accomplished, just as he announced to his servants the prophets.”

In this passage it tells us that at the sound of the last trumpet sounded by the seventh angel the return of Jesus Christ will come. To learn more about the trumpets refer to the book of Revelation chapters 8-11. I interpret things literally when it comes to the Bible unless it states otherwise, so when it comes to the trumpets that are mentioned in Revelation, I believe each of the things that are written will literally take place on the earth after the trumpets are sounded in Heaven.

So when you see a third of the earth burned up. A third of the trees burned up. All the green grass burned up. A third of the sea turned into blood. A third of the living creatures in the sea die. A third of the ships destroyed. A great star called Wormwood fall from the sky on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water and a third of the waters turn bitter, and many people die from the waters that become bitter. A third of the sun struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them turn dark and a third of the day without light, and also a third of the night and then the sun and sky darkened. And locusts coming to the earth that will not to harm the grass of the earth or any plant or tree, but only those people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads, these locusts will not be allowed to kill them but only to torture them for five months people will try to seek death but will not find it; they will long to die, but death will elude them. And third of mankind will be killed.

All of these things I mentioned are the things that will take place on the earth once all of the seven trumpets are sounded from Heaven, all of the things I mention above will be the earthly/human effects of each trumpet being sounded. So, when you see all of these things taking place on the earth and to people, let each of these events be a sign to you that Jesus will be returning soon at the sound of the last/seventh trumpet. Once the previous six trumpets are sounded and all the things I mention take place on the earth then Jesus Christ the Son of God will return to earth.

Revelation 11:15-19

15 The seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, which said: “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Messiah, and he will reign for ever and ever.” 16 And the twenty-four elders, who were seated on their thrones before God, fell on their faces and worshiped God, 17 saying: “We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty, the One who is and who was, because you have taken your great power and have begun to reign. 18 The nations were angry, and your wrath has come. The time has come for judging the dead, and for rewarding your servants the prophets and your people who revere your name, both great and small—and for destroying those who destroy the earth.” 19 Then God’s temple in heaven was opened, and within his temple was seen the ark of his covenant. And there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, an earthquake and a severe hailstorm.

At the sound of the last/seventh trumpet, Jesus Christ will return to earth and the Kingdom of Heaven will come with Him and Jesus the King will rule the earth forever. Jesus will rule the earth from Jerusalem on Mount Zion literally when He returns. In Micah 4:7 it tells us that Jesus will rule the people of the earth from Mount Zion forever once He returns. It also says in Micah 4 that the mountain of the Lord’s temple will be the highest mountain of all mountains and the people of the earth will go up to the mountain of the Lord. There are several other great things mentioned in Micah 4 about what will take place on the earth at the time of Jesus’ return, I encourage you to read about it.

Revelation 14:14-20 14 I looked, and there before me was a white cloud, and seated on the cloud was one like a son of man with a crown of gold on his head and a sharp sickle in his hand. 15 Then another angel came out of the temple and called in a loud voice to him who was sitting on the cloud, “Take your sickle and reap, because the time to reap has come, for the harvest of the earth is ripe.” 16 So he who was seated on the cloud swung his sickle over the earth, and the earth was harvested. 17 Another angel came out of the temple in heaven, and he too had a sharp sickle. 18 Still another angel, who had charge of the fire, came from the altar and called in a loud voice to him who had the sharp sickle, “Take your sharp sickle and gather the clusters of grapes from the earth’s vine, because its grapes are ripe.” 19 The angel swung his sickle on the earth, gathered its grapes and threw them into the great winepress of God’s wrath. 20 They were trampled in the winepress outside the city, and blood flowed out of the press, rising as high as the horses’ bridles for a distance of 1,600 stadia.

In this passage it references Jesus coming on the clouds, and with the return of Jesus comes the wrath of God on those who have rejected God and have not believed in Him before His return. The analogy that is used to describe the upcoming wrath of God upon Jesus’ return is like trampling grapes in a winepress, meaning the people who have rejected God will be killed/trampled and the blood of those killed will flow as high as the horses’ bridle for 1,600 stadia. The wrath of God is a scary, horrible thing that we do not want anyone to experience. We must pray for people to believe and give their lives to God & Jesus so they may be saved from God’s wrath.

Revelation 16:5-7

5 Then I heard the angel in charge of the waters say: “You are just in these judgments, O Holy One, you who are and who were; 6 for they have shed the blood of your holy people and your prophets, and you have given them blood to drink as they deserve.” 7 And I heard the altar respond: “Yes, Lord God Almighty, true and just are your judgments.”

The passage goes on to say why God’s judgments are good because the people who are experiencing God’s wrath are those who killed the believers and followers of Jesus and the angel says it is just, meaning this is the justice of God. It is God releasing His justice upon the wicked.

Revelation 19:1-21 1 After this I heard what sounded like the roar of a great multitude in heaven shouting: “Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, 2 for true and just are his judgments. He has condemned the great prostitute who corrupted the earth by her adulteries. He has avenged on her the blood of his servants.” 3 And again they shouted: “Hallelujah! The smoke from her goes up for ever and ever.” 4 The twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God, who was seated on the throne. And they cried: “Amen, Hallelujah!” 5 Then a voice came from the throne, saying: “Praise our God, all you his servants, you who fear him, both great and small!”

This passage speaks of the judgment God will release upon His enemies and the enemies of God’s people who have killed God’s innocent children.

Revelation 19:6-10

6 Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting: “Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns. 7 Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. 8 Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear.” 9 Then the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!” And he added, “These are the true words of God.” 10 At this I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “Don’t do that! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers and sisters who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For it is the Spirit of prophecy who bears testimony to Jesus.”

This passage speaks of the wedding of the Lamb of God, who is Jesus. The wedding of the Lamb is when King Jesus, marries His bride who are those who have believed/loved Jesus before His return. The bride of Christ will marry King Jesus. Isaiah 54:5 tells us that Jesus, who is our Maker, is our husband. It says, “For your Maker is your husband, the Lord Almighty is his name, the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth.”

So the bride of Christ will be married, joined to Jesus forever upon His return. The bride of Christ will be given fine, bright and clean linen to wear because they have been washed with the blood of Jesus Christ which have made them clean, pure and righteous before God because of the righteousness of Jesus.  Jesus’ blood has made the bride clean, spotless and blameless. The bride of Christ will join their husband, King Jesus at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb, which I previously mentioned.

Revelation 19:11-1611 I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and wages war. 12 His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. 13 He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. 14 The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. 15 Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. “He will rule them with an iron scepter.”He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. 16 On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

The one riding the white horse is Jesus Christ. Jesus is the One called Faithful and True. Jesus who is just, will judge and make war against His enemies upon His return to earth. Jesus’ eyes are red like fire and upon His head holds many crowns because He is the King of all Kings and Lord of all Lords. He has a name written on Him that no one knows and His robe is dipped in blood and He is the Word of God. The hosts of heaven, angels of God will come with Jesus at the time of His return. Jesus will be coming demonstrating His wrath upon His enemies.

Revelation 19:17-2117 And I saw an angel standing in the sun, who cried in a loud voice to all the birds flying in midair, “Come, gather together for the great supper of God, 18 so that you may eat the flesh of kings, generals, and the mighty, of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, great and small.” 19 Then I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies gathered together to wage war against the rider on the horse and his army. 20 But the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who had performed the signs on its behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped its image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur. 21 The rest were killed with the sword coming out of the mouth of the rider on the horse, and all the birds gorged themselves on their flesh.

The great supper of God is a scary, but real event that will take place after Jesus has returned and released His wrath upon all the enemies of God. Birds will literally eat all the people who will be killed by the sword that comes out of Jesus’ mouth upon His returning. It says there will be kings, generals, slaves, free people both small and great that will be destroyed by Jesus and the birds will eat those who will be killed. The beast represents the anti-christ and the false prophet is the anti-christ’ accomplice who will perform signs and wonders deceiving people of the earth to worship the anti-christ and making them set up an image of the anti-christ. The false prophet will also force all people to receive a mark on their hands or forehead, which is called the mark of the beast and if people do not take the mark of the beast they will not be able to buy, sell, or trade anything. The number of the mark that will be given is 666.

Christians do not want to take the mark of the beast and for that matter no one on the earth should take the mark of the beast on their forehead or hands, because it says in the Bible that those who take the mark of the beast will not inherit the Kingdom of Heaven, you will read about that closer to the end of this post in Revelation.  I believe it is going to require trusting in God to provide food supernaturally for all people who do not take the mark of the beast, because this scripture tells us that no one will be able to buy or sell if they do not have the mark of the beast on the forehead or hands.  God has supernaturally provided food for His children before so people can put their trust in God when the time comes for people to be faced taking this mark of the beast to get food.  God supernaturally provided for Israel in the wilderness for 40 years, God provided Israel with water supernaturally from the rocks and manna from heaven.

Here is the passage in Revelation that talks about the anti-christ and the false prophet.

Revelation 13:3-8 Anti-christ

“One of the heads of the beast seemed to have had a fatal wound, but the fatal wound had been healed. The whole world was filled with wonder and followed the beast. 4 People worshiped the dragon because he had given authority to the beast, and they also worshiped the beast and asked, Who is like the beast? Who can wage war against it? 5 The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise its authority for forty-two months. 6 It opened its mouth to blaspheme God, and to slander his name and his dwelling place and those who live in heaven. 7 It was given power to wage war against God’s holy people and to conquer them. And it was given authority over every tribe, people, language and nation. 8 All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written in the Lamb’s book of life, the Lamb who was slain from the creation of the world.”

Revelation 13:11-18 False prophet

11 “Then I saw a second beast, coming out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb, but it spoke like a dragon. 12 It exercised all the authority of the first beast on its behalf, and made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose fatal wound had been healed. 13 And it performed great signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to the earth in full view of the people. 14 Because of the signs it was given power to perform on behalf of the first beast, it deceived the inhabitants of the earth. It ordered them to set up an image in honor of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived. 15 The second beast was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed. 16 It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, 17 so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name. 18 This calls for wisdom. Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. That number is 666.”

Revelation 20:1-31 And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain. 2 He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. 3 He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time.

This passage speaks of when satan, also referred to as the dragon, serpent, and devil will be bound for a thousand years in the Abyss.

Revelation 20:4-64 I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5 This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.

The martyrs of God who did not receive the mark of the beast will be resurrected at the returning of Jesus and will rule and reign with Jesus for 1,000 years.

Revelation 20:7-107 When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison 8 and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth—Gog and Magog—and to gather them for battle. In number they are like the sand on the seashore. 9 They marched across the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of God’s people, the city he loves. But fire came down from heaven and devoured them. 10 And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Satan will be released after being bound for a thousand years after Jesus returns. Satan will deceive the nations of the earth after Jesus has returned and ruled the earth for the thousand years, people will be deceived by satan. Satan will gather the people he will deceive after the thousand years and will attempt to have them fight God’s people in Jerusalem, which is the city God loves. God will not allow these people who have been deceived to harm His people and fire will come from heaven and devour them. After this takes place the devil/satan will be thrown into the lake of fire where the anti-christ and false prophet have already been thrown and they will be tormented day and night forever.

Revelation 20:11-15

11 Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. 14 Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. 15 Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.

This passage refers to the great white throne judgment where God will judge all people, living and dead. The book of life will be opened and all those who have believed in Jesus before His return and lived a life faithful to Him, their names will be recorded/written in the Lamb’s book of life. When it says the people will be judged according to what they have done recorded in the books, that refers to another book which is referred to in Psalm 139 and Malachi 3 where it says that every day of our lives are recorded in a book and a book/scroll of remembrance will be written for those who fear the Lord and honor God’s name to one another.

Psalm 139:15-1615 “You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. 16 You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.”

Malachi 3:16 16 “Then those who feared the Lord talked with each other, and the Lord listened and heard. A scroll of remembrance was written in his presence concerning those who feared the Lord and honored his name.”

The passage in Revelation 20 goes on to say that those who are in hell and in Hades which is a holding place, they will be judged.  Those whose names are not written in the book of life and those who are in hell/Hades/death they will all be thrown into the lake of fire which is called the second death. Many times people believe hell is the lake of fire, but according to this scripture hell is not the lake of fire, instead no one goes to the lake of fire until after the return of Jesus and after the anti-christ & false prophet have been thrown into the lake of fire and then after the thousand years Jesus rules the earth and when satan is released will satan be thrown into the lake of fire. It is not until all of these things take place that then the great white throne judgment will take place and it is at that time that God will judge all people, the living and the dead and at that time those whose names are not written in the book of life, once they have been judged by God then they will be thrown into the lake of fire, that includes those who have already died and gone to hell prior to this.

Revelation 21:1-71 “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. 5 He who was seated on the throne said, I am making everything new! Then he said, Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true. 6 He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. 7 Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children.

This passage speaks of the future we will have after Jesus returns to the earth after Jesus rules for a thousand years and after the great white throne judgment. Then heaven and earth will be gone, there will no longer be a sea on the earth and then the new Jerusalem will come from heaven along with Father God and there will be a new heaven and a new earth. Father God will now join the earth and Father God will wipe away all tears and there will be no more death/sadness/mourning or pain again. All who are victorious until this time, meaning those who remain faithful to God and overcome all the evil/deception and who do not abandon God, they will inherit the new earth with God the Father and Jesus.

Revelation 21:8-14

8 But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.” 9 One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.” 10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God. 11 It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal. 12 It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, and with twelve angels at the gates. On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel. 13 There were three gates on the east, three on the north, three on the south and three on the west. 14 The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

This passage tells us that those who are cowards, unbelieving, murders, vile, the sexually immoral, those practicing witchcraft, idolaters and liars will be sent to the lake of fire. But the bride of Christ will inherit the new Jerusalem, which this passage describes in detail the glory and beauty it possesses.

Revelation 21:15-2115 The angel who talked with me had a measuring rod of gold to measure the city, its gates and its walls. 16 The city was laid out like a square, as long as it was wide. He measured the city with the rod and found it to be 12,000 stadia in length, and as wide and high as it is long. 17 The angel measured the wall using human measurement, and it was 144 cubits thick. 18 The wall was made of jasper, and the city of pure gold, as pure as glass. 19 The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald, 20 the fifth onyx, the sixth ruby, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth turquoise, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst. 21 The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of gold, as pure as transparent glass.

This passage describes the incredible splendor and beauty of the Holy Heavenly City/New Jerusalem and it is adorned with jewels/gemstones, gold, glass, and pearls. I cannot wait for the day I will see Jesus, the Father, Holy Spirit and the Heavenly New Jerusalem face-to-face.

Revelation 21:22-2722 I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23 The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. 24 The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. 25 On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. 26 The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it. 27 Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

How amazing will this be, to see God the Father and Jesus as the temple. I long for the day when I will see God the Father & Jesus light the entire earth by their glory and we will not need the sun or moon and there will never be darkness again.
