Shelter under the Shadow of His Wings

Recently the Lord spoke to me that when evil and darkness are all around that we are to run into the arms of God and find shelter, refuge and safety under the shadow of His wings. I felt the Lord speak to me that no matter how bad, dark or evil things get on the earth there is safety and protection found under the shadow of the wings of God. God is our refuge and strength and He is our protector. We do not have to fear if we put our trust in God to shelter and protect us. No matter how bad things get in your life, family, city, country or throughout the whole world; you can find safety in God. There may be times where God wants us to fight the darkness and He wants us to take authority over the evil things that take place around us, but there are also times where God fights for us and we are to run into His arms for safety.

I have studied end-time scriptures for years starting back in 2005 and I was also apart of an end-time leadership biblical study group during my time in the House of Prayer in Atlanta with Billy Humphrey and others, even Allen Hood and Cory Russell joined in on this group when they were in town as well. What I learned after years of studying end-time scriptures was that regardless of when all these events will take place or whether the scriptures are figurative/symbolic or literal; regardless of what takes place, the most important thing is that I am not afraid or fearful of what will take place. That was one of the greatest things the Lord spoke to me after spending years studying about end-times, the most important thing is to not be afraid of what will take place, but to trust God, have faith and peace. Initially after I first started studying end-time scriptures my response was fear, I was fearful of what was going to take place and it caused my reaction on how I should live my life to be from a place of fear. What God showed me was that no matter how evil or bad things got in my city, country or the world God did not want me to be afraid, but He wanted me to trust Him and to have faith, not fear. God wanted me to not be afraid of evil or death, but to put my trust in Him. What the Lord spoke to me is that we are not in control of what will or will not happen on the earth as it relates to end-time biblical events, the only thing we are in control of is ourselves and our reactions to what does happen. We don’t need to be worried or afraid of anything, we are not in control of what happens as it relates to end-time biblical events, God is in control and what we can control is ourselves, by not being afraid, but trusting God. So regardless of what will take place as it relates to biblical end-time events or anything that is bad/evil on the earth, we do not have to fear. Once I received that revelation from the Lord it helped me to not live my life from a place of fear of the future, but just surrender my life to God and trust Him for His protection and safety.

One of the best scriptures the Lord has used to speak to me about trusting Him and finding refuge and protection in Him is Psalms 91 where it says, “Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day. Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday. Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you. If you make the Lord your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone. You will trample upon lions and cobras; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet! The Lord says, I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.” Psalms‬ ‭91:1-7, 9-16‬ ‭NLT‬‬.  We know through this promise in Psalms 91 that even if there is evil and darkness taking place all around you it does not have to harm you and we can find shelter, refuge and protection under the shadow of His wings.

We also have the authority through Jesus to rebuke evil, change atmospheres and establish God’s kingdom in the midst of evil and darkness around us. Jesus tells us in John‬ ‭14:12-14‬, “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!” Jesus has given us His authority to do the same works He did on the earth and even greater works through His name, His authority and His power. We have the privilege of partnering with God to bring His Kingdom to earth and transform the world around us with His Kingdom. Jesus told us how to pray while He was on the earth as referenced in Matthew 6:9-13 where He says, “This, then, is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’” So we know through the words of Jesus that we are to pray God’s Kingdom would come to earth and His will would be done, so we have the ability to pray God’s Kingdom would come and to demonstrate His Kingdom by doing the same things Jesus did on the earth. We know that Jesus rebuked and calmed the storm, Jesus healed the sick and cast out demons, He raised the dead and by doing the same things Jesus did in His name and through His authority and His power we bring His Kingdom and demonstrate the power of God on the earth.

I feel it is also important to have the wisdom of God regarding every situation and battle you face, every storm that you are personally going through whether its natural around you, physical, emotional, financial or a spiritual battle you are experiencing. The wisdom of God instructs you and guides you to know how God wants you handle each situation and battle you are facing. Ask the Holy Spirit for God’s wisdom, knowledge, discernment and understanding to know how God wants you to react and handle every situation you are faced with. There may be times that God wants you to fight through prayer and action and other times there God may want you to be silent, still and trust Him. One thing I have learned through experience is that God does not have me handle every situation the same, depending upon what I am facing and who is involved it seems God has different ways of me reacting and handling things and it never seems to be the same way of doing things everytime. That is why I am grateful for God’s wisdom and guidance because God knows how to best lead, guide and protect us through every situation of life. Let God be your guide during every situation, storm or battle you face. No matter what takes place in your city, our country or throughout the world we do not have to fear evil or bad things happening even when you are in the midst of the worst things you can imagine taking place you can find refuge and safety under the shelter of the wings of God. God is kind enough not to abandon us in the midst of storms, battle or evil, He will never leave you nor forsake you. So the key to whatever you are facing whether conflict, a storm, demonic opposition, natural, physical, financial, or emotional the key is to not fear, but put your trust in God, find refuge and strength in God. My prayer is that whatever you face in life you would overcome fear and receive the faith of God and that you would find refuge and strength in God under the shadow of His wings. No matter how bad things become on the earth, no matter what is shaken around you, you do not have to be afraid, there is safety and protection in the arms of Father God under the shelter of His wings.
